Lublin is the biggest town in Eastern Poland with approximately 365 thousand inhabitants. It is located in the highlands and surrounded by fields, forests and lakes. Lublin is perceived as the biggest academic centre on the right bank of the Vistula River, since there are five main universities and a number of other higher education institutions. Together, they provide wide range of academic faculties and programs, attracting over 75,000 students to study in Lublin.
The year 2017 was very special for Lublin because 700 years earlier, Lublin received a city charter established by King Władysław I the Elbow-high. During this long period of time Lublin has been opened for cultures and religions of many nations. While sightseeing the town you can notice contribution of western – Catholic, eastern – Orthodox and Jewish cultures.
Lublin is rapidly developing not only economically, but also in the area of culture. The town provides many cultural offerings and events which are held annually. For example: the Night of Culture,”, the Festival of Traditional and Avant-garde Music “Kody”, the “Different Sounds” Music Festival, the International Festival Theatre Confrontations, the Jagiellonian Fair as well as the Magicians' Carnival.
